My advice....carpeting is a bad idea in FL's climate. Go ceramic and/or hardwoods (even laminate if budget is a concern). You will increase the value of your home by doing so, as well.

This is great advice. We did the same. The first year, the carpet in the living room and dining room was removed. This year, we did the family room and the two bedrooms which had carpet.

Yeah, I second both the above...
Carpet sucks, and is hard to clean, and you never know what lives in it.

Still a carpet fan...we did ask about hardwood or laminate in the "living" room...main access to pool area......one installer advised against...wet/damp floors hard on laminate/wood...thanks for your suggestions....still looking for specific installers and companies.

Wet/damp on carpets = very unhealthy over time.

Obviously it's your choice, good luck.

Most homes here have either tile or travertine. Carpet is breeding ground for mold which would be very costly to remove.

Of course, this is your choice, but just be aware of the risks associated with carpet in Florida/wet areas.

I've lived in multiple different apartment complexes in the Tampa Bay Area, and for some reason, they ALL use carpeting.

Carpeting is cheap. Not healthy, not attractive, just cheap. Most home buyers will expect a discount for carpeting as they want to upgrade to tile or hardwoods.

Doesn't surprise me. Most apartments seem to have poor quality material like incredibly thin flimsy window panes and low-end appliances.
