Hey, y'all:

I'll be moving to the Tampa area soon for a job change and am now trying to figure out as much as I can about the Bay. I have family in Tampa Palms and have visited them fairly often over the years so there is some familiarity, but we rarely adventured elsewhere so my Tampa experience is limited (but I know enough to be certain that I would hate living in Tampa Palms!)

A little about me: I am a 25 year old guy who will be moving to FL from DC proper. I am a huge fan of the metropolitan lifestyle that comes with living in an alpha city, and I am a huge fan of public transit. I understand that car ownership will be a necessity, but I think somewhere along the streetcar might be nice - please inform me if my hopes for streetcar usage are naive.

I'm interested in being around many other young people in fun areas with fun things to do - restaurants, bars, local street festivals and fairs, farmers markets, art shows, etc - and I am sure I will attend a bunch of local sports.

I'm sure I'll come up with some other things as I think a little more about the pending move. Thanks in advance!

Find a job in DTSP and live there. Walk or ride bike everywhere. Lots of clubs, eateries, best Farmer's Market in all of TB area, art galleries, museums, waterfront.

You won't find "DC" here, but St Pete might be tolerable.

You are being naive indeed about public transit.
