I have been driving from Brandon(near to mall) to International Plaza mall for the past few months.
I take Selmon Expressway and take exit 5(Hyde Park Ave/ Davis Islands), problem with this is I hit traffic on Kennedy most of the time and end up spending 40 mins on road + $2.26.

Another route I take is 301 N->MLK->I4 E->275 S-> Exit to Lois (heavy traffic on 275). travel time 50 mins minimum.

Any suggestions on alternate routes?

Seems like you've tried the two ways I'd go.

Anyway ya cut it the traffic is a nitemare. It would take me 50 mins to get to Brandon when i lived in Danashores and that was back in the 90's thru the early 2000's.

Instead of Kennedy try taking Cypress or Spruce, they both go straight thru.
(Spruce might be better)

Yea , I would take the Willow exit then go up Armenia to Columbus, or Armenia left on central, right on mcdill, left on spruce right on Louis. Depends in the time of day. From the crosstown in Brandon it shouldn't take you more than 30 min.

Spouse works near Lemon St. They often take the Crosstown express lanes to downtown, then across (Twiggs?) over the river to Cypress, and Cypress the rest of the way out.

Granted, it's half surface streets, but they claim it beats the traffic on I-275.

I just saw where they will be opening up 275 westbound to four lanes shortly, so it might get better in the near future.

An alternative that I know the spouse also uses is the Crosstown to the connector to I-4 and then I-275 the rest of the way.

If I am not taking Selmon, I hit 275 traffic at around 8:10 AM. How early is early enough to avoid congestion on 275?
