Love the lighthouse on Egmont Key. I camped there as a boy scout back in the 80's. Got to watch a sunset from the top once. Pretty cool.

Thanks for those suggestions! All good ideas, and I added to your reps (if I was able).

There are some pretty decent gems for Tampa overall, however, I will also visit Miami as well next time I get a chance. I would say at least my immediate impression is that Tampa might win out of the "Big 4" in the state for Pre-1920's architecture, though I'm sure Miami has some awesome Mid Century and Modern stuff, and the Biltmore Hotel and Breakers down there are gorgeous.

Just to clarify, I'm looking to stay in a hotel in Tampa (city proper) for one night at some point, and was looking for a classier, older designed hotel in which to do so. Would you say Hotel Floridan is the best bet for that, or elsewhere?

That was the FIRST hotel that came to mind. It looks like a really nice place.

And, because of this thread, I am trying to get the property manager of the 100 North Tampa building to allow me to come out and do some filming for the channel.

I'll add that you have to go inside Tampa Theater to fully experience the architecture. The exterior has nice details but the interior is fantastic

I second that - that theater is a real gem, and I believe one of only three remaining "atmospheric" historic theaters in all of Florida!

A small tease while I render the footage from the 100 North Tampa building.

Or any buildings you can go inside that are particularly impressive that I would've forgotten to mention? Tampa's got a decent collection, but I'm just trying to see what else I wasn't aware of in the area.

I wish I could go into more buildings in Ybor, but I think there's like a special event or something which gives people that opportunity.

TIA!

Iirc, one of the few Frank Lloyd Wright buildings is in Lakeland and might be worth the drive.
