The Best and Worst Airports in America: Readers' Choice Awards 2015 - Condé Nast Traveler

Been to airports all over the country and Tampa International is one of the best, IMO.

Unfortunately right now it's in a huge construction project, but it'll even get better once completed. Always liked coming into TIA when I was in the military coming home to visit family.

TPA has had some of the cheapest flights around. The stop & go traffic just to get there can be a PITA though.

TPA is one of the reasons we moved here. Construction is a bit of an annoyance now, but glad it is growing. We like the various parking options as well as they easy drop-off and pick ups.

At least 10 times a year I fly the Tampa to NY's LAG/JFK route...the contrast between them is so striking...right now LAG is undergoing major renovations...which makes arriving there even more lovely...In the 60's and 70's JFK was a great airport (used to pick my Dad up after business trips weekly with my Mom)...it was state of the art back then...

I dont fly and my experience with TIA is relegated to picking up or dropping off friends and family,One think i miss is being able to take the shuttle out to air-side to wait for or say goodbye to those friends and family being relegated to the mall like central core of the airport just doesnt impart the same feeling..
One perk i do like is parking on the top floor of the parking area and watching the airports activities when i have some free time.

One of my relatives comes through Clearwater Airport. Any comments about that place. It is getting a lot of Allegiant traffic, that's for sure. I've been in there about 3-4 times and already know the bartender upstairs (nice guy).....always get a draft beer while waiting for flights. Parking is a breeze as well except when there's a lot of traffic making ingress and egress tough at times.

We were tempted to fly Allegiant but they have had a lot of recent bad publicity re: safety issues.
