I will be moving to the Tampa area in the next couple of months to take a new position. My office is directly adjacent to International Plaza and Bay Street. and I am looking for any advise and input about where to focus.

I know there are hundreds of posts about where to move, but none seem to address the needs i am looking for. I am 32 and moving myself, wife, and 1 year old from Metro Atlanta where I drive 45-60 minutes to work in traffic, 20-25 minutes without. I live in an area currently where we have some of the best schools in the state, virtually no crime within 3-4 miles, lots of shopping and restaurants, but yet not super congested. So I am looking for an area in the Tampa Metro area that will have a comparable feeling and lifestyle for my family. Below is what I am looking for:

$250k-$300k
3-4+ Bed
Less than 15 years old house.
Either have a pool or a NICE Neighborhood pool
Schools that are considered good to great. (7+?)
Clean and upkept shopping and restaurants
Safe (extremely low crime)
within 1 hour or so distance from International plaza (closer the better)
Prefer to be North or East of Airport (closer to 75 and Orlando for visiting family)

I know this is a large wish list, but if I am going to move and pay this much for something I feel I should be able to be. I know the Land O Lakes area has houses that are similar to my wants, as does Lutz, and the Riverview and Valrico area. What input or help can you give me.

Thank you in advance for all of your help.

Land O Lakes
Lutz
Trinity
Citrus Park (iffy. getting more expensive by the day.)

All north of the airport by way of the veterans expressway (or Dale Mabry) with new houses, nice and safe (and clean) neighborhoods. My $.02 - If you can find a place in Citrus Park in that range that fits your needs, jump on it. Otherwise, Land O Lakes is a good bet. Lots of new housing. Same w/ Trinity.

I'd skip east of the airport. You start to get into some run down areas with crappy schools.

Wayne - you should be able to find everything on your list ... but the schools will not up to the level you experienced in Georgia.

Since you're considering the Riverview and Valrico areas, read my post (#15) in this topic:
Moving to Tampa Area & need honest feedback about neighborhoods & schools

I would strongly consider East Lake and Palm Harbor.
