are there any factory/warehouse/manufacturing jobs in the Tampa area (Clearwater: apartments, job market)

Can someone please tell me if jobs are plentiful in the factory/warehouse/manufacturing industry? I am looking to move either Tampa, St. Pete, Bradenton, Clerawater, or Sarasota area. Whereever the job market is the best.

There are but what pay scale are you looking for? I would say the pay scale is low in the few I know about.

We are coming from Ohio, and the pay scale here is $8.00 to $10.00 an hour. If we could find that in Fl., that would be great!

well, maybe if you have very good skills. Actually my husband worked for a day labor place for a while a couple of years ago. They sent him to an electronics parts place where he had to do quality control. He has no exp. and they trained but he did get 8/hr so it might be possible. The thing is that income won't buy much in the way of life style here. If you both are getting it you will be able to start affording life here.
That 32K/yr will get you a $925/mo. rental. That's just barely enough for a decent place in a decent area unless you can manage in a 1 br. That's what it takes, sorry if you think 8-10/hr is a great wage. If only one of you works for that you won't make it. Just ask the many working poor families who are homeless on our streets.

I don't think that $8 to $10 an hour is great pay! I was just saying that could be an ok pay rate to get started with. I guess an acceptable amount. My husband works as a chemical mixer here in Ohio, and he makes $10 an hour. The pay rate for jobs isn't so great up here either, and we can make it on his wage- not extremely comfterable, but it can be done. The apartments range is from $500.00 to $800.00 a month here. I bartend and serve, I really don't think that I will have too difficult of a time finding employment in FL. My husband has worked every type of factory job that one can think of. He is muti-skilled in this line of work. I looked at the online employment sites, and there are quite a few factory/manufacturing jobs in the area of Tampa/Bradenton/St.Pete/Clearwater/Sarasota. Being that I am not from any of those areas, and have never even been there, I am wondering which of these areas are the cheapest in terms of rent, and has the most plants and factories for the type of employment that my husband will be seeking.

Bmoore, since you're a server/bartender, I would think you may be able to make quite a decent income in Fla. if you can get into the right places.

Sorry that I don't know the area well enough to answer your last question.

Expenses are relative. There really are no cheap places to live anymore. But if you check Apartments.com or Craigslist, you can find apartments well under 1,000 a month. They may not be fancy or huge, but some of them actually look quite comfy.

As far as the wages appear to be, they're quite comparable to the wages in the Midwest. I'm sure you already are aware that the only thing your husband can do is find a job and stick with it in order to get good wages. It's the same way in our area. Starting wages are nothing to brag about, but if you stick with it, you can make a liveable wage.

I would recommend Tampa or St. Pete area, whichever area is close to work. There are apts in your price range, they just may not be brand new, have a pool or be a gated apt, but they are out there, in good areas too. You just have to be sure of the area. You should be able to make good money as a server or bartender. My DIL worked in a small pizza place in S.Tpa and made really good money.

industry here I can't think of which mineral we mine but Hillsborough county East of Tampa, maybe Bradenton area would be good. I am having an MS moment but I know it's there. I think in those area's you might come closer to your target rent. and if you live in Brandon which is sort of in between you can get good bar tending gigs in Tampa. There's also the Seminole Hard Rock Casino which is at I-4 and I-75. That may be technically Tampa but it's just on the border of Brandon. That could be good for both of you. Sarasota is going to be the most expensive in terms of rent. Anywhere you go, you will have to watch neighborhoods on that rent. It will be more like 750-1,000 here even for a 1 br. I agree with Keeper, that tending bar will be a good job here.

Bmoore, if your husband is experienced with chemicals, have him look into one of the many phosphate companies (Mosaic & CF are two I can think of off the top of my head). Along with major plants in Tampa & Plant City, there are some big phosphate operations in Bartow as well.
