Hi, we are visiting the Tampa are next week on a "scouting" trip as my job may be moving to the area. While there we are planning to look at some apartment complexes, homes, and new home/town home developments. We are familiar with the area and looking for suggestions on each. We like the area of Oldsmar, Town n Country and Westchase.

Rent budget would be $1k and up and home price target would be $250k - $350k. Please let me know if you have any suggestions on good spots or some to avoid. Thank you.

Be very, very careful in Town and Country, or "Town and Compton" as some of the local refer to it.

There are good parts and bad parts, and the schools there are far from the best in the county, for sure.

Each area here has nice areas and not so nice, just like any other place.

I lived in TnC from '74-''14. Never had our house broken into, never been a victim of any type of crime.
Only thing bad that ever happened is when I lived on Troydale Rd. and some kids went rummaging thru my truck (left unlocked) in the middle of the night but didn't take anything, not even my change or gps.

I moved from the area about 2yrs ago because I got tired of the traffic around Tampa.
You might like the area around Spinnaker Cove Condos.

I take it those locals have never actually been to Compton? I'm highly doubting they know much about it if they're comparing TnC to it.

You could walk thru the worst neighborhoods in TnC (Timberlane,Pinehurst,Deerfield) in the middle of the night and you'd be fine lol.

My point exactly. I'd be willing to bet that you could walk through just about any neighborhood in Tampa at any point in time and be fine. But, you know... People who don't live there seem to know best.
