Anyone know a good place to purchase meat in the Brandon area. We currently live in Ybor and go to the Hurican Latin market on sligh and central. Most things are priced well ($1.99 ground beef for example) but no filet mignon. I know Apollo meats down in Apollo beach has some good specials all the time ($1.50 4oz bacon wrapped tenderloins), but anything in the Brandon area. I never purchase steaks at grocery stores because of how expensive they are.

I don't know of any butchers in Brandon, but there's Felton's in Plant City.

We have found that the SanWa Farmer's market on Hillsborough (around 25th St.) has really good meat if you're willing to buy in bulk. That is, a whole beef or pork tenderloin rather than just having someone cut a couple of filets off.

To be honest, I'd probably just end up going to Apollo beach instead of heading into Tampa from Brandon. I know there is at least 1 Land & Sea in Brandon but they always seemed pretty expensive.

Anyone looking to head to Apollo Meats need to be aware that the store is closed until Aug 2 for vacation. Learned that as I pulled into the parking lot today. Would have been nice if they posted that info on their website that shows their hours.

Good info, thanks! Yeah Apollo meats is a pretty small outfit, but their meats are amazing and very high quality. Not to mention Steve is one the nicest guys you're gonna come across.

There used to be a Land & Sea near my home on Lithia south of Bloomingdale. They closed, I suspect because their offerings were limited and expensive. There are only so many ways you can stuff a chicken breast.

Had they just gone with plain meat and fish offerings as opposed to selling all sorts of "fancy" things I think they would have done better. Their products were high quality and fresh, but there wasn't anything to distinguish them from buying five pounds of chicken breasts from Costco.

Yeah I only walked in there one time. I left empty handed and never returned. If I enjoyed overspending I would have been a loyal customer.
