Hi all:

Aside from car dealers, which oil change places are reasonably priced, AND, dare I say, "honest?"

Thanks...

Its been my experience that these quick lube place tend to charge for many unnecessary procedures and the staff are usually minimum wage employees who make extra money by charging you for those unneeded procedures. youd be better off finding an honest mechanic in the neighborhood to do your oil changes. One of many reports on quick lube places=

No idea what area you are looking in.... however Yelp is usually a pretty good barometer as to good places or not. Here's a list for Tampa area, several with good number of positive reviews.

Wow! Surprised to see Clarke Automotive in the list at all ... I didn't think anyone else knew about him, lol. And he deserves to be so high in the ratings too.

I second this. Most of them they advertise xx.99 and when you get to pay, they charge you quite a bit of fee, disposal blah blah fee. I finally convinced my wife not to take this bait and switch over the corner places. Go with the dealer, both of our cars dealer beat on the corner quick lubes.

I would agree. As a former high line mechanic who changes the oil and filters in all their cars, when I did have "commodity" cars I found the dealer would do it for the same price as the oil change places, sometimes for less.

While the dealer would use the opportunity to try and sell you some service or maybe upsell you on oil, you could be satisfied knowing that the people working on the car are "real" mechanics who know the car very well and much deeper than the oil pan.

For example, Brandon Ford does a "Fastlane" oil change on most Ford cars for under $25.

There's also some advantage to having a dealer do it, as they've got the manufacturer looking over their shoulder if they screw up...

Been getting honest service at Safety Tire in Gulfport for many years. They don't seem to care that I often supply my own parts for things I know need replacing (tires, brakes/rotors, etc)
