Just moved here and I'm interested in taking my sailing interest to the next level. But before I spend the money on ASA certified courses, how can I go about getting on boats after I take these courses? I don't own a boat, nor do I plan to any time soon. Are there ride-share programs or clubs that have a fleet of boats (and don't charge astronomical club dues)? Any suggestions are appreciated. Just want to get on the water as much as possible.

Also if anyone can suggest a good school that would be great. I have experience sailing small boats and Hobies, but it's been years since I did it last.

There used to be a sharing service around here where you paid a monthly fee and had access to a boat or boats of varying types. I'm not sure if they offered sailboats, but I know they did power boats.

Freedom Boat Club, Carefree Boat Club, Boat Club of Tampa are just some that come up in a google search.

I haven't done it here, but when I was learning to sail. I took the lessons at a yacht club. The club would let us hang around on weekends when they had races/events. We would be able to hop on other boats as crew or just weight for those with their own sailboats. After you got to know a few people, you could figure out how to get in some extra sailing practice by helping out others on their boats.

It was 40 years ago, I took a classroom sailing course given by the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Clearwater.

My sailboat was a 12' sloop on a trailer. Had a lot of fun with it, took it to a number of different places.
