Recommended homeowner's insurance companies?
We've been looking into coverage for a home we are in possibly purchasing...being across the country currently makes it a bit harder to do research
Anyone have a homeowner's insurance company they would recommend? We've received 2 quotes, one $5800 and the other $3600 annually! That's quite the difference....we'd love to hear if anyone has an affordable insurance company they suggest!
Thanks so much!

Thanks for the links....We are currently in Indiana and moving to Tampa in July. We found a home on the coast in Tampa and have heard estimates for home insurance from the 3000's to the 8000's so we're trying to find the best price.
The link you sent does confirm what company may have the best prices. Anyone have experience with Allstate?

I was with State Farm until they tried to double up on me.
I then called an agent who told me the cheapest was Citizens (State Backed Insurance).
My quote for State Farm was about $4800, Citizens was $1900.
I just renewed at $698 with Citizens with out the comprehensive sinkhole coverage.
That is for $339,000 in coverage.
I am about 4.5 miles from the gulf.
If you want an agents # just send me a message.

Thanks for the information. The disparity in insurance prices is far more extreme than we expected. It's good to know of companies that are recommended.

If you would, let everyone know what quote you end up with is.
I am curious to see if you have as good of luck as I have had with them.

You can also check with the Department of Insurance and they can usually provide you a list of companies that do business in that state. Also check out their record in Consumer Reports. A company may have the lowest rates but have a bad payment (for claims) history. Remember, the Titantic was built with the lowest bidder and we all know what happen with that boat.
In most cases, the Agent will make the difference. Get one that is either experience and a good communicator and you trust.
