About 4 years ago, getting a new roof was pretty affordable. Then came the 4 hurricanes. I think the roofers double the prices in the span of one year.

It is now time for me to get a new roof. With the housing slowdown, cheaper housing supplies, and all the lost construction jobs on new homes, does anyone know if the price of getting a new roof come down? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Any roofers out there can send me an a direct message. I live in the Ruskin/Riverview/Sun City Center area.

Thumbs up New Roof Options

There is a new option available for roof protection.
MoistureFree offers roof warranties on new and existing roofs.
You can find out more at www.moisturefreeroof.com

There is also a search engine which will help you find certified roof home inspectors in your area.

Hope this helps.

I remember hearing something in the news about the Florida Building Code changing for reroofs. I think the roofers said it would cost the homeowner more money...maybe the plywood has to be replaced on a reroof? Sorry I don't have all the facts. Maybe someone reading this will remember and provide more information.

I sent you a DM with a roofer in your area whom I would trust to do my own roof (and no, I don't get paid for recommending this person).

Thank you everyone for the recommendations. I am taking notes and contact information if anyone else knows of a good roofer. I more interested in a honest fair price.

Depends on where you are I guess, but our roofing guy did a nice job for us back in 2000 and he is still working in the Pinellas county area.

Just be sure to check out anyone on the BBB. I would also get several bids to get an idea of cost. You also want to be sure they are insured, so if someone falls off the roof they don't sue you.
