How good or bad is this commute for work? weekend commute also, possible.

Weekday rush hour i'd budget 45 minutes, weekends about 30 minutes. Any car accidents or road construction along the way could easily increase that commute to over an hour or more.
Not a commute i'd want to do on a daily basis.=

No ferry until the fall, it's temporary to see if it's viable. Also, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of transportation once you get here, so you might have to hoof it to get from the dock to your destination.

I made the drive from Pinellas Park to USF every day for a full semester. The longest part was getting over the bridge (four lanes go down to two, then slowly open back up into four, but everyone feels they have to merge anyway). Once you're over the bridge, it's still pretty slow, but not AS bad. Once you pass Downtown Tampa, the traffic gives you a little breathing space. I agree with about 45 minutes.
