Hello Everyone,

I will be down there once again checking out the area, enjoying the weather and considering guess what...Move!!

Would like to know where are the majority of the IT jobs so I look at areas with appropriate commutes.

Any constructive input is appreciated

I can't say that IT jobs as a rule are "clustered" in a particular area, rather, they're around the more dense business centers, such as downtown Tampa, St. Petersburg, and smaller areas of high density office space.

Companies like Price-Waterhouse are spread across the area with several sites, so that plays into the situation as well. Otherwise you've got local governments, places like Nielsen or Citigroup where there are large concentrations of IT people for that particular employer, etc.

I would look at the job postings in the area for your particular discipline and see how things show up as far as location. Tampa is not Silicon Valley in the sense that certain industries are gathered around a common area.

I just moved here in July. I'd say the IT jobs are kind of all over, though probably west of downtown Tampa. Citi is out in Brandon though. If you're looking for a startup, then I couldn't say. I think Ybor City is trying to be a tech hub.

This can give you an idea of some of the larger companies in the area, all of which should offer various IT positions: http://tampaedc.com/corporatehq/
