I am going to go on a vacation mostly consisting of golfing, which of these cities do you think would have the better golfing opportunities, and better weather for golfing in early April?

I say Tampa. I have a friend in Scottsdale and all she has been complaining about is the weather and how unusual their Winter season has been this year. Tampa has more consistent weather than Phoenix and in April, it would still be a gamble...
Hit 'em long and straight!

I would say Arizona, which boasts more than 300 days of sun/year and gets very little rain since it is the desert.

As far as Scottsdale's winter goes, everything is relative. People here in the Valley of the Sun are so used to heat, if it is not 80+ degrees outside - as it often isn't in the dead of winter - they complain it is cold. April is no longer the dead of winter, so it should be warm and sunny.

Enjoy your trip!

Florida/Tampa Golf Course green fees are becoming outrageous, especially in Feb/Mar/April. Not sure what Arizona prices are nowadays - haven't played in PHX for about 20 yrs.

I've never been to Scottsdale, nor am I a golfer, but I do know that there are over 200 golf courses in the Tampa Bay Area. And the weather in April should still be cool enough to enjoy being outside. The 2008 Outback Pro-Am will be at the TPC in Lutz from April 14-20. There's a local book I pickup regularly and they have a website at golfersguide dot com. Also, the St. Petersburg Times usually publishes a list of golf courses each year. You can probably do a net search and see that one as well. As Bob Barker used to say, "Come on down!"
