I was shocked to see that WUSF TV channels 16-1, 16-2, 16-3, 16-4 will be going off the air later this year. If you watch the channel, you would have seen that they are celebrating their 50th year on air. BUT
the license has been sold for $18.7 million through an FCC auction to use the spectrum for wireless network providers. The University had several options. They could sell the entire spectrum and go off the air, switch to another channel or share broadcasting with another local channel or do nothing. They decided to sell out for $18.7 mill.
I'll be missing the channel. They usually have better programming than WEDU channel 3 And I will miss channel 16-3 Create.

It shows much of the same thing on 3.1.

Agreed!

My family doesn't watch most channels that come with cable, and we have opted for one of our two TVs to just go basic, and we love the USF channels. Those channels are a big reason why we have been thinking about going basic in both rooms with a TV.

I'm very sad to hear this. It is by far my favorite channel (no Downton Abbey, Call the Midwives, etc. which are not for me, but are on WEDU). WUSF shows Doc Martin and Death in Paradise, which I enjoy, but I can get on Netflix. WUSF shows some classic movies, too. I will miss it.
