I admit the bay is nowhere as clean as it use to be but to say something like that is stupid, people swim and jet ski in the bay all day, every day.

I really don't mean to come across rude to people, I really try to like everybody but some people are just so STUPID.

EDIT: wasn't directed at you at all.

How about the guy who went into the ocean with a new tattoo. Not a good idea.

A couple of years ago a guy died after he was pricked by the dorsal fin of snapper he reeled in. Bacteria virus. In 2011 or 2012 about a dozen people died from a flesh eating bacteria in the St Johns river. We didn't have anything like that before. A kid might get an ear ache from the lake which the doctor would treat with penicillin.

Ben T. Davis beach has bacteria alerts from time to time.

So do the Gulf Beaches.

No Swim Advisory issued for North Lido, Siesta, and Venice Fishing Pier Beaches | Florida Department of Health in Sarasota

Yah, it's crazy, this didn't used to be a thing, but it does point to the degradation of the environment in Florida, sadly. Too much sewage.

I think the springs are pretty safe, though. Water too cold for the bacteria.

Come to think of it I got an ear ache now, now I'm worried.
Worst thing I can remember happening to me was falling off a tube over an oyster bed.

OK, so your taxes and HOA is about the same as my taxes, CDD and HOA.

It's just too funny to read people who live here and have nothing but negative things to say about the area. Has me shaking my head wondering if things are really as bad as you make it, why are you still living here? Or are some people just having fun stirring things up?

In all fairness, she had a second home in Western North Carolina. And that's some beautiful country.

Parts of the Dade City/San Antonio area have rolling hills and are very attractive. Or used to be, I haven't been up there in a while.

And I find the springs and rivers have their own beauty. However, you're right about the concrete and overdeveloped land. They really hit this part of Florida (Tampa suburbs) with the ugly stick.
