Tampa's "first public market" is now open. Went there yesterday. Sorely disappointed. It's just a hipsterized food court.

A food court is not a public market. We needed a true public market, with vendors to buy Florida raised beef, organic Florida tomatoes, Plant City strawberries, Gulf shrimp from. And even non-local ingredients that are of artisanal or excellent quality. At the very least they could have put an artisanal bakery in there.

Who was in charge of this fiasco?

Here's what you can eat at the Armature Works' new Heights Public Market

I actually thought it was really cool. Definitely what Tampa Heights needed. I'll have some pictures up after they've been edited.

They shouldn't have called it a public market. It is not a market. A public market is 99% full of vendors selling ingredients for making meals.

Here is Milwaukee's Public Market. Milwaukee, a much smaller city than Tampa Bay. (It wouldn't be fair to compare Tampa's market to big city markets of course.)

We did not need a food court with a bunch of restaurants we already have. If I wanted mediocre pizza from Ava I would just go to Ava.

Since the name is already a done deal, I hope they will change the format so that it matches the name.

I used to work in this building when TAW owned it. I liked it far better then. The only drawback was having to secure the doors and gate because undesirables would come onto the property, in one case attempting to rob the office personnel. When a number of us came out of the back with pieces of pipe in our hands, they departed rather quickly.

My wife worked at the corp office of TAW for quite a few years. They wanted her to transfer over to that place once and she didn't feel good about working at that location. So I can understand how you feel about that place.

I'm sorry to hear that. My time at TAW was not pleasant for a lot of reasons. 78th St. was not a happy place. Suffice to say that moving on from there was the best thing I ever did for my life and career.

I was not at Ola St. permanently, but went there regularly as a part of my job. They actually had a guy walk in and pull a gun on the office staff one time. That's when the gate started being locked during business hours and the office having to "buzz" you in.

The high drama in the office took its toll for sure. When she finally left, I was very happy to hire her for my business.
