That's sort of how rail transit works...alleviating traffic from the exurbs to the city core.

here's one question: how much, call it "positive development", how much of that is going on now in brooksville? and i don't mean new stores opening along peripheral arteries. real in-town improvements, activities that draw people to the area.

stuff like that is what helps make towns thrive and prosper. a train link down to tampa will do all that and more.

For the most part people are addicted to getting around in their cars, the thought of making your way to a train station in Brooksville then waiting who knows how long in 90 degree heat to endure a slow train ride to Tampa where you then have to deal with tampas public transit to get where you want to go sounds like an ordeal few would burden themselves with when they could just hop in their car and take the Sunshine Parkway door to door.

Then most trains derail anyways.

here's what's up: many people don't feel safe, or have no desire to drive to the city. and/or deal with traffic and parking. the "burden" you mentioned is actually the aspect of driving for, say, a mom with young children. or a daily commuter or elderly on fixed incomes.

saying "just hop in their car and take the sunshine parkway" is not possible or desirable for many people who want to or need to go into tampa.

it amazes me that there is absolutely no way to go from downtown brooksville to tampa besides driving. there is no bus service going there, or to t.i.a. either.

if this opportunity to create a modern rail transportation system is squandered future generations will be badly impacted. our children deserve to have better options. without this, eventually, brooksville will experience a degradation in the quality of life so far as to result in a reduced population, reduced tax income and civic infrastructure decline and failure.

no. traveling by train is by far the safest way to get around american metropolitan areas. think of how many people die each week in automobile and truck accidents...when a train derails it's national news because it happens so infrequently.

I don't think people would feel safer hanging around train station and bus stops and think most people would feel safer in their cars. As for those with no car I hardly think they sit around all day dreaming of going to Tampa, if they really needed to get to Tampa they would get a lift from a friend or relative. I think such a rail link would be a colossal waste of tax payer money. as a daily commuter to ease rush hour traffic it may have some merit but if there was a need for such service i'd think an express bus line is a cheaper way to go.

If you're in a situation where you need to go into Tampa regularly, I'd suggest moving significantly closer to Tampa... Not hoping that a train route is established.
