My husband really wants to move to Lakeland if possible.

I may have a job opportunity working on the east end of Tampa. From what I can tell, for the commute to be even possible, we need to live close to Interstate 4. We've looked at some homes on the south end of Lakeland, closer to Lakeland Highlands....but mapquest shows a commute of 56 minutes from there, which is too much for me.

Anywhere that is a safe, family friendly neighborhood closer to interstate 4 that would be a closer commute?

Thanks!

You can live a little west of Lakeland in Plant City to lessen your commute time. Or even further west in Valrico.

Probably hasn't even been on I-4 in over 10 years. * Note to OP, sometimes it's good to look at a posters last posts (history) to see what kind of person or better yet in this case just simply Google there screenname and you'll get a good idea.

You can check traffic and see if there's any wrecks on Google Maps at anytime of the day. I drive it very frequently and my sister drives to the West side of Tampa by the stadium everyday as do many other people.

I've never had to detour off of I-4 due to traffic but there's other routes besides I-4 that run parallel to it like Hwy 92 and Knights Griffin Rd.

OP, I'll get names of some neighborhoods when I get a chance.

Most people live in areas of the county where Parallel roads are far and few. Some popular areas have none. Lots of places have one way in and one way out. Those are the people that complain about traffic the most.

We lived on the southside of Lakeland (near Lake Hollingsworth) for a couple years, and my husband commuted to downtown Tampa via the Polk Parkway and I-4. Polk Parkway is a breeze but most of the commute will be I-4. If you are only going to east Tampa, it shouldn't be too bad, depends on time of day I guess.

Thank you everyone. I found out the job theybweee wager to hire me for was at a Walgreens express care clinic in a not good area of Tampa....so I won’t be pursuing that.

I had a phone interview yesterday for a job down in Port Charlotte and I will have a 2nd interview soon with them

I have another phone interview this week for a job in clearwater

I’ve let my husband down that Lakeland prob won’t happen. He’s now pretty keen on other areas

No more posts here from me unless I get an official job offer. I may be off to the southwest Florida boards.
