Dual enrollment is a great option too. If the students play their card right, they can short circuit their 4 yrs down to 3 yrs and enter college with enough credits as sophomore. Saving a whole entire year of tuition and start working a year early would be beneficial to cutting cost, or get early start to grad school.
IB gives you an edge but it's not end all be all and definitely isn't an automatic punched ticket into good schools. They still have to do the work, do it well, and go above and beyond to stand out. Like I tell my kids in sports, it's game time - you don't get a trophy for showing up anymore.

LOL...I used to tell my kids IB was the "big league"...if your child lacks discipline or good time management IB will be hell for them...it's not for every bright child that's for sure...but the tools they learn in IB really prepare them for graduate programs even more than their undergrad degrees...
