Hi, wife and I are looking at visiting Tampa in Mid June for several days and staying in a vacation rental. Narrowed it down to two, one in Safety Harbor (a couple blocks south of Philippe Park) and Town N Country (Brunswick Ln).

Thoughts on safety of each area? What types of neighborhoods are these and what is the demographic of the people living there? Thanks

Vacation rental in Town and Country? LOL!

I would definitely choose Safety Harbor.

Town and Country is a very patchy area that has some nice homes but is predominately working class. Not the most desirable or attractive part of Tampa, that's for sure. Book that Safety Harbor rental ASAP!

Ok so TnC is out, how about the south St Pete area/Gulfport? Just need somewhere decent as a base for a few days to check out the beaches and general Tampa area.

Gulfport is nice!

South St. Pete, not so much.

I book vacation rentals all the time, but never in Tampa Bay where I have a home.

If I were booking a vacation rental in Tampa Bay, here is where I would book it (listed in order of preference):

Pass-a-Grille Beach
Indian Rocks Beach
Dunedin

Also:
Anna Maria Island (not sure if this is considered part of Tampa Bay; some say yes, others say no)
Holmes Beach (ditto)
Longboat Key (ditto)

Thanks all, found one in Gulfport that looked really nice, newer construction and had great reviews.
