tampaguy03, Wow, so sorry to hear about Crawdaddy's, thanks for the update. OMG, no more beer cheese soup! It's too bad about Whiskey Joe's, too. I used to enjoy the happy hour on the outside deck with cheap drinks, decent food and entertainment. DH said they've had an "under renovations" sign up for about a year now. I hope it re-opens and doesn't lose way to more condos!
SuziSu, Landry's Seafood is OTW near Rocky Point as well. I have a friend from Manhattan that loves their Manhattans. ha!

I really like the Sbarro's in the Tyrone Square Mall in St. Petersburg. Good food and the staff & management are good too.

What are the best foods of Tampa, what foods does Tampa specialize in? I liked the grouper the last time I was there. Thoughts?

I think a Tampa specialty is the Cuban Sandwhich, Grouper Sandwhich, and the 1905 Salad from the Columbia restaurant in Ybor.

Any places in town offer Tres Leche? I've had it in Puerto Rico & Mexico, not sure as to the exact country of origin, maybe its made at the Cuban spots?

I LOVE Rusty Pelican - have had several meals there, and all have been FABULOUS - the lobster is to die for! And you just can't beat the beautiful setting - great waterfront ambiance.
I also love Grillsmith, they just opened one up here in Lakeland in our beautiful Lakeside Village mall. Love their Marsala steak!

I like the sandwiches at Crispers on Dale Mabry when I am in Tampa. I also liked that Italian restaurant at Westshore Plaza, but I can't think of the name of it.

For Eastern Hillsborough County, my votes go to:
Thai - Simply Thai at Bloomingdale and Bell Shoals, Brandon (wonderfully fresh)
BBQ - Grandpa Johnson's in Plant City (the sweet potato casserole is awesome!)
Irish - O'Toole's Irish Pub on Highway 60 (delicious!)
Italian - Italian Kitchen in Riverview
Mexican - Estella's on Highway 60
Pizza - Babe's Pizza on Highway 60

I actually like Woodys in Plant City for BBQ. I was so sad when they shut down the Valrico one. Do agree with you on Irish & Mexican but I would say Pizza Haven on 60 is way better than Babe's. I have never been to either of those Thai places as my friend owns Ban Thai in Tampa and I am pretty loyal to them.
