We are looking to retire to a walkable city in FL. Want a city where you can park the car once, go to a restaurant, the library, the post office and maybe even a grocery store, all on foot. Better would be to live within walking distance of these city highlights. We want a city with live music and art galleries. Am looking for a city with lots to do, like art and craft classes and friendly people. Looking for housing of two bedroom/two bath. How about Dunedin?

You can do this also in downtown St. Petersburg.

You can do all of this and more in Sarasota as well. Of course it depends on your budget which you did not specify.

Downtown St Pete is the only place you can truly do this. There are tiny walkable areas in Dunedin, Safety Harbor, etc. but you can't do everything (i.e. go to the grocery store, post office, etc). Only in DTSP.

FWIW, Dunedin is one of the few towns that allows you to roam around in a golf cart legally (with a permit) in slower neighborhood streets. Nice option when you get tired of walking and don't want to drive a full sized car.

To be perfectly honest with you, we would consider St. Pete except for a phobia to the Sunshine Skyway bridge!

There is no need to ever get on the Skyway unless you are going to Manatee County or Sarasota or someplace south of the Bay. To get to Tampa you would take the Howard Frankland or Gandy Bridge (or the Courtney Campbell Causeway if you take my suggestion below...)

What I was going to say. Except for the grocery store*, if you live near downtown/main street all that other stuff is available. A fair amount of restaurants and little boutiques. And they have Third Friday, a market/craft fair that often has live music (on the third Friday of every month, incase that wasn't clear )

*And Publix is not far on McMullen Booth Rd, maybe a five minute drive from downtown.

Default Dunedin Not that Walkable

While better than most of Florida...grocery stores are a drive. Look to St. Petersburg.....less atl.right facism in St.Pete than Dunedin / Clearwater.
