I agree with most of Tampaguy's advice - definitely stay away from Sarasota - very old and stodgy, not vibrant at all. I would go with the South Tampa, you won't be sorry.

I would like to be in a area where there are single people around the ages of late 20's to early 40's. I have been given some suggestions in South Tampa (Harbour Island, Davis Island, Channelside, Hyde Park/SOHO and Westshore). A friend made a suggestion that since I will be working from home I look out by the beach like Clearwater Beach. I would love to live by the beach but only if people my age live in the area and if there are things to do at night. Any suggestions or insight to the places I named would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt
Hey Matt,
Yeah, South Tampa does look nice. I was looking at the downtown tampa site and found really nice condo's. My faince and I are also looking on moving in the next couple of months, and want to be where the action is. We are planning on visiting Tampa in the next few weeks and checking it out some of the downtown condo's. etc. Does anyone know how much it would cost to rent a place downtown that has 3 bed, 2 bath? Also, even buying one? How much do they run for?
thanks

Default male single & in mid 30's also! South tampa!?

Hello,
Great board! I am living currently in southern california & tired of the materialism and free swinging values. Is there a beach city that is up & coming that has a communtiy that is very active & health conscious. organic restaurants, nice high end gyms, active beaches (holds many athletic events)? I am financially secure.

I keep hearing good things about south tampa
Soho/hyde park

thanx everyone great board!

South Tampa is waterfront but not "beach". However, most of it is pretty high end, as in the most prestigious and expensive part of Tampa. Lots of young professionals, with great shopping, restaurants and night life. It's also a pretty easy drive to Gulf beaches from this area. You might want to check it out, I think you might like the vibe of this area.
