I found this,

2.Tampahttp://static.urbandictionary.com/thumbsup.gif (broken link)162 up, 48 downhttp://static.urbandictionary.com/thumbsdown.gif (broken link)The best city in Florida; home of some of the chicos y chicas mas calientes in the world! Rated the 9th most dangerous city in the United States, due in large part to the area surrounding the University of South Florida, where crime rates are very high.

There are separate areas of Tampa:
-NORTH TAMPA is primarily lower-middle class Caucasians and Mexican-Americans.
-SOUTH TAMPA is primarily upper class Caucasians.
-INTERBAY, which is the area south of Gandy Boulevard, is primarily African-American and is another haven for crime.
-UNIVERSITY WEST, also known as SUITCASE CITY by the locals, is primarily African-American and Latino, and is the area that has brought Tampa to the #9 slot on the list of Most Dangerous Cities in the USA.
-WEST TAMPA, which includes the areas of BON AIR and COURIER CITY, is a primarily Latino area where not much goes on.
-CARROLLWOOD is a neighborhood which is technically in North Tampa, but it is home to the upper-middle class "yuppies".
-TAMPA PALMS is an area out in the middle of nowhere, almost to the Pasco County line, where a lot of rich people live because they want to be as far as possible away from Tampa because they don't want their precious children to be exposed to real life.

Please post a link to where you got that info.

WOW! I never seen such a HUGE misrepresentation of the Tampa City areas...except for UNIVERSITY WEST.

I have to agree with tampaguy.. That is someone's opinion of Tampa not anything based on fact.

We have had posters on the Tampa forum before making outlandish statements, but that doesn't make them true.

I think that whole thing was just tongue-in-cheek - there was actually a little truth to most of it, just exaggerated.

Bottom line, one can paint a terrible picture of Tampa or a hyped up picture of the town - it's all about what one wants to see it.

That looks like urbandictionary.com to me, which means one person submitted it - regardless of if the info is correct or not.

i know what you mean.. i took a 4 dollar hr. pay cut to be here in the ghetto of beautiful N.E tampa, i would love to be in S. tampa or carrolwood, and i was offed as much as a 8 dollar pay cut from some potential employers, but i wasn't having all that. that would have been a 16,000 dollar a year pay cut. i mean with 3.50 gas and other bills/food at an all time high, when are pays going to increases? people were struggling when gas was .85 cents in 1998. i've even heard from a friend thats been here a few years that he was going to take a job when he first came down starting 14.hr, same job today is starting 11.hr, . i will post something i wrote in a different thread:

i must say that the only thing i don't like here in Tampa is when i went on some job interviews, companies are cheap. from providence RI the cost of living is very similar, yet here they pay much less, and tell you it because of the cost of living difference. i have to disagree tho. i paint cars and insurance companies pay the same here or anywhere, so it comes down to employers are just elcheapo's and thats that...not to mention it costs significantly less to own a shop here in Florida because of no heating bills and less OSHA regulations.....
