I was taken back, but kept moving forward. At the next light -- she GOT OUT of her car, still flipping me off, and screaming at me. When that light turned green, she gunned it, passed me, and swerved in front of me and slammed on her brakes. Being aware that she would probably do that - I calmly changed lanes. She did it again.

At that point, I took out my cell phone - and "pretended" to take a picture of her license. That was enough to get her to drive away and leave me alone.

That completely started my day off poorly. Road rage is real. The sad thing is -- I did nothing at all. This person was apparently having a really bad day. Thank goodness this person didn't have a gun or an old clunker of a car to ram me.

Be careful out there - and be kind to each other.
Hahahaha.....How long have you been driving in the area minister?

Thanks for your pro driving tip on following distance & legal knowledge though.
I invested in a nice dash cam just for this very reason. Hopefully I won't need it but it will speak for itself in court.

The vast majority of people do not have dash cams, but thanks for your legal knowledge though.

We just spent three night in Tampa/Clearwater and we were amazed how few people use turn signals, it's inconsiderate ... and we live in Philadelphia!
Either way, we enjoyed the area very much.

yes, it's frustrating......lane changes or turning, you don't see blinkers consistently used here ----too busy texting or doing their makeup or whatever......you really need to be a defensive driver here more than anywhere. I find right hand lane at the speed limit is my safest bet.......you see a lot of unpredictable weaving that's often 10-20 mph over the speed limit....I rarely see anyone pulled over for infractions until I get to Manatee county where they're waiting right at the county-line on I-75 southbound.

We usually blame it on, NOT or OVERTAKING Meds! There are so many people who can’t function right because they didn’t take meds as prescribed or are on oxi’s and “high”.

Very sad and it seems to get worse each day. That can spoil a perfectly nice morning, for no reason.

We do have dash cams in all our cars. Unfortunately they do not always tape as the other day I checked the memory card and nothing had taped...

Exactly. Every area has it's share of psychotic drivers, uninsured drivers, hit and run drivers, bums, criminals, scam artists and all around ne're-do-wells but Florida in general and Tampa Bay in particular is over run with them. I really notice it when I travel out of state to more normal places and then come back here.

Since I've lived in Florida (just over 11 years) I've noticed the bad driving, but it does seem to have gotten even worse the last few years. I live in Orlando and it's terrible here and whenever I come over to Tampa I notice the same terrible drivers and terrible driving habits.

Like you I've had people immediately honk at me when a light goes green, and it's not like I'm waiting. It's almost like they are expecting you to be an NHRA driver and go from 0 to 60 in 2 seconds when the light goes green. Of course the interesting thing is Florida is also horrible for red light runners. So lets look at the options, either accelerate at a normal rate from a red light and have some crazy driver behind you honking and flicking you off or accelerate like an NHRA driver from a red light and probably get hit by some crazy driver running a red light. Pretty much a no win situation.

I'm not from Florida originally, and whether it's visiting my home state or traveling somewhere else, it's so nice driving in places where driving rules are followed and people aren't constantly honking or cutting off each other.

I always notice the poor driving in particular when I've just come back from somewhere else. And like others have mentioned I have also experienced drivers who will accelerate like crazy to get in front of you, cut you off when they do get in front of you and then brake check you. What's the deal with that? Are they trying to intentionally get into a wreck? Doesn't make much sense when Florida is a no fault state and you are both going to have to deal with major hassles in regards to your insurance and getting your vehicle repaired. I guess they think they're being cute and "making a point" but it's completely wreck less driving.

I myself have seriously considered getting a camera for my car and whenever people drive crazy aggressive with me I try to get their plate number and report them to police. All of us need to start doing this, it might be the only way to reign in some of the crazy driving.
