For those who work on MacDill, what area do you live in and what is your commute like? I am being transferred to MacDill this summer. I want to get a start on my house hunt now and I am trying to get an idea of what a realistic commute will be like from from different neighborhoods. I have lived in the Tampa area before and I know the traffic can be hellish. TIA.

I live in the Bloomingdale area and have a number of neighbors who are stationed at MacDill. Commute, depending on time of day, is about 40-45 minutes each way I would guess. There’s also a Hartline (bus) express route that goes back and forth a couple times on business days.

I just moved to downtown St Pete. I never worked at MacDill but lived right down the street from the base . The neighborhood is called Ballast Point . Many military and their families live in the area. There is older and newer housing stock in the neighborhood .
