New to the forums. Moving to St. Pete this summer. I intend to live near the Lake Vista Rec center (South St. Pete) and commute to work to East Largo (job near the intersection of US 19 and Road 688). Google maps seems to think the drive home during peak times should be about 45 mins. Does anyone have any experience with this type of commute? Any thoughts? Positive advice greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Not familiar with that exact route but the northern part of your trip has high traffic going south in the morning and high traffic going north in the evening. It sounds like you are going the opposite the flow so at least that portion of your trip should be smooth.

Are you using the feature in Google Maps to specify day of week and time of day?

You can experiment with different times if you have any flexibility in start time at work.

Also once you do start making the commute i'd recommend using a map app daily so you can adjust for accidents as needed.

I live in that area of south St Petersburg, In Peak traffic you should give yourself hour to hour 15 minutes. There is a lot of congestion in peak hours in the Largo destination. Sure if traffic is flowing its 30 min, maybe slightly less at 2 AM but count on things not going smooth ever in the Carillon- Largo US19 area. 45 minutes could happen rarely, but don't count on it during peak hours. The major bottleneck is 688/686/49th Ave/28th,Gandy, I-275. Its usually not a savage commute as commutes go once you clear out of Largo to Carillon (Feather Sound area) heading south towards St Pete.

Thanks for the replies guys. And yes, I’ve used that tool, google maps claims at 5:00 pm back home would be about 45 mins, sounds like it might be longer than this? I’ve tried mapping the commute at the same time during the day, seems to agree. Thanks again for your help guys!
