I have a question someone here might have an answer to. We are moving t NC, have not sold our home and are thinking of renting it out. Obviously we need to keep our insurance coverage for if the place burns down or a hurricane blows it away, but can we cancel our "personal property" insurance since our property will be in NC?

Also, is it wise to even tell the insurance company this? Will the insurance rates skyrocket if we become landlords instead of residents of the home we own?

My insurance rates didn't change much, I only added rental insurance, so incase that the tenant gets injured , I'm covered for that.

Insurance for rentals is generally significantly cheaper.
