I've decided over the past couple months that I want to move down to Florida...I can't stand Michigan weather and have always wanted to get out as soon as I could. I don't have much holding me here, seeing as how I just graduated from college, and figured I might as well leave while I can.

I'm planning on moving to Tampa in the beginning of August (when my apartment lease is up). I'm wondering if anyone out there is willing to give me some advice? Maybe someone who is young, knows the area well and wouldn't mind exchanging emails/IMs with me. I need some help narrowing down what area to live in first of all...then more after that.

So if anyone wouldn't mind letting me ask them some questions and pick their brains, I'd really appreciate it.

You can ask here and get some good advice. Be sure to include where you will be working, what you like to do for recreation, general age requirements.

I moved from Ann Arbor to Charlotte, NC for 6 years before coming to Tampa. You will not want to go back up there in the winter ever again. I watch the rotten weather reports up there as I'm sitting on my porch with a gentle winter breeze here...
South Tampa is a bit yuppy-fyd , I started out there. You can ride your roller blades or bicycle down Bayshore Blvd just like Chicago but a hell of a lot warmer. I miss Michigan football season and the apple cider mills , but thats about it. Downside in Tampa, poor pay, pricey for housing and lacking in cultural events . Workers tolerate most anything, don't even think union....still I would not move back there. Loved Charlotte, NC and wish I could find a home here for their prices. Good luck w/you move. You will like it here.
