I had UPC. They went up over 40% this year. I made a couple of phone calls and I got the same coverage from another company for much cheaper.

I think big increases were in certain areas because of re-zonings of the FEMA maps in all counties.

It's no wonder. People are filing claims for what should be normal wear and tear costs.

Had work done recently by handyman. Was told that lumber prices have literally almost doubled. Don't know if this has anything to do with it but know when I had my home in another state and had homeowner's insurance the based the premium off of what it would cost to rebuild the home. Difference between cost to rebuild and selling price on the market was almost $100,000.

That could be fraud, but if the insurance companies did THEIR job correctly, they would deny the claims,

My homeowners insurance went up $400. But, it's still lower then when I first bought my house in 2012.

Auto insurance went up quite a bit, which has me shopping before I renew.

I don't doubt this at all. Homeowners has increased due to overbuilding, congestion/density. My auto has jumped because of more drivers on the road in FL from out of state. My agent put it this way: RISK
