Default best beaches and dog parks

What is the best public beach on the gulf for walking dogs (Apollo Beach/Riverview area)? Also, any dog parks? Thank you.

Best Public Beach on the Gulf for walking dogs in my opinion is Fort DeSoto, they have a dog park and a dog beach. In Tampa, I take my kids for walks on the Bay at Picnic Island(also have a dog park as well), I used to go to Davis Islands, but it gets busy at times, especially on the weekends.

There is a dog pen park at Fort DeSoto Park. By the way, it's a county park, contrary to popular belief. There is also a dog beach there as well. It's not hard to spot. You can see the fenced area from the road as best I remember. Take a right at the "T" and it will be on your left. Go to http://www.city-data.com/w8/bgm4128.gif and you'll see Fort DeSoto at the very end. See the "T".

Fort Desoto is my favorite, too. And not just for my dog, either. Its a great, unpopulated, pristine setting.

To the north you can try Honeymoon Island.

Not quite close enough to Riverview/Apollo, but there is a dog beach at Honeymoon Island State Park --> Main Page - Honeymoon Island State Park » Florida State Parks.

Sorry about the duplicate. I read Casey's post after I posted.

So we all go to Paw beach at Fort desota and start wondering who are the once on this blog....I will think that for sure next time I go there. It is my favorite dog beach and my dogs love it too. My smallest dog is mostly on a boogy board and loves it.
I ahven't been there in months but we are planning on going this weekend. i don't mind the hour drive because it is a great place.

The best part is that dogs are allowed without a leash and I have never had people walk their dogs without a leash who were mean. So it is safe.
