In preperation for my move I was researching where I can buy furniture/ house supplies for my apartment and I noticed on the IKEA website that there are no stores in Tampa. They have a store in Orlando and one opening in Tampa in the summer of '09. Where I live now I have an IKEA very close and buy all my stuff from there, I love that store. Are there any good furniture/ house supplies stores in Tampa/St.Pete area? Or should I drive the 80 plus miles to IKEA? Where did you buy your stuff?

I think its worth the drive to Orlando. Its really not that far...only about an hour. Time seems to pass quickly when on I-4. Plus you won't be disappointed with this ikea. Its huge!! Which ikea do you live near?

Thats good to hear, an hour isn't much. I live by the one in Elizabeth, NJ. Its huge as well and has everything. Besides that IKEA in Orlando are there any other good stores around Tampa for the times I don't have time for the drive?

I find IKEA just OK for housewares, but NOT for furniture(just my opinion)...In Tampa>>>Bed Bath and Beyond, Linens and Things, Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, Z Gallerie, Pier 1 Imports and several other independant furniture stores.

I have some lovely furniture from IKEA but purchased many years ago (14 in fact) and shipped over here (sentimental value). They do represent good value for money and I love the meatballs they serve in the cafeteria (well the ones in England are nice anyway). Agree the household goods are great.

Well, all of those are nice stores but definitly not in the same price bracket (or close!) to Ikea. I had the same problem when I moved here, and the one in Orlando wasn't open. I would honestly make the drive. Otherwise, the only cheap furniture (or reasonably priced) was on craigslist
