Default Citrus County

We have visited Florida to look for a relocation/retirement home in the Tampa Bay area but have gone a bit far north and seem to like the area in Citrus County. We like the hills, the cooler weather and the rivers and lakes in the area; not to metion that it is much less congested with traffic.

Assuming this is the right forum, what are good developments in this area. Citrus Hills, especially Terra Vista was beautiful but a little bit expensive for us. Even assuming that we could afford the least expensive model, we are questioning whether the real estate costs are inflated for this area of Florida.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Well Terra Vista is one of the most expensive places in this county. I live in Inverness right across from the lakes. Citrus Hills is more in the right price range. Most homes in the county are now selling for what they SHOULD be selling for (including mine). Just be careful of the HOA's because some places are very strict. A few years ago, you might have seen inflated prices because this area was discovered and little people knew about it but now with impact fees costing $16,000 to build, not much building is going on and the homes that were built and did not sell are now going for much better prices all over the county.

What is the difference between Terra Vista and Citrus Hills?
We saw some resales in Brentwood and Citrus Hills that we liked and were withing our price range.
Are these all part of the advertised "country club community?"
If so, is there a social pecking order since one area is obviously more upscale than the other?
We love Citrus County. Are there other perhaps less upscale developments in Inverness or other areas?
Thanks.

Terra Vista is it's own high upscale development and Citrus Hills is actually it's own town.

There are other developments all over the county i just can't think of their names since i don't live in one or keep up on them. soryy... I prefer not living with HOA's because they seem to be pretty strict around here. We have a friend who lives in an HOA and because his grass isn't green enough, he gets a warning or if he has one too many cars in the driveway he gets another warning. Of course not all developments are so strict.

My in-laws live in Terra Vista. I believe that Citrus Hills surrounds and includes Terra Vista and if you buy a home anywhere in Citrus Hills you can use the Terra Vista ammenities. There are some beautiful homes around there. You might try some places in Beverly Hills too, which isn't too far from Citrus Hills.

Thanks. How do they like living in Terra Vista? Does Beverly Hills have similar communities?

They love Terra Vista. Very nice people, they have tons of friends. It is growing out there, too. When they first moved out there there wasn't very much around them, but they are building all the time. Crystal River is close as well as Brooksville and Inverness. I am not sure about the Beverly Hills communities but some of the neighborhoods look nice driving thru.

Beverly Hills has a community called Pine Ridge and it is very nice as well, I'm sorry, but I'm not sure of the current home prices. It is worth a look though and most of the homes are on large 1-5 acre lots.

Smile Another option in Citrus County to live in!

I love Citrus Springs. It's beautiful. My grandparents live there!
