Default Heritage Harbor and The Eagles Home Builders

My wife and I have looked at homes in both Heritage Harbor and The Eagles and really liked both communities. I was just curious as to who the builders were in each community and what kind of quality the homes are.

I am betting that most of the homes are relatively new so it is hard to tell how they will fair long term, but I have heard stories about certain builders and quality issues so I am leary.

I believe I read that Heritage Harbor was a Lennar community, is that right? My friends built a house with Lennar and in 6 months they had a huge outside water leak that destroyed one of the walls. Lennar was good about fixing it for them but it was still a huge inconvenience and something that should not happen in a new home.

Anyone know who built the Eagles, Cheval or Villa Rosa?

Can anyone tell me who the more repuatable builders are in the area? We looked at Mercedes Homes and Southern Crafted Homes which were beautiful and looked high quality, however were out of our range a bit.

Thanks!

Default Builders

Our last home was in Heritage Harbor. It was a US Home (now part of Lennar). The first phase was built in 1998 and the home we had was built in 2004. Structure was fine, but cookie cutter style homes. We left b/c the community is gated but not private and the county refused the gate on our new side and people parked on the streets. HOA would do nothing about it.

Eagles started with US Homes but has Larson Homes and a few other builders. Not sure about Cheval builders, but a great community.

Mercedes Homes: Would never buy one. I live in Grand Hampton, and we have ICI, which is an East Coast builder. Their warranty department sucked for awhile b/c no warranty division in Tampa, but the quality is outstanding with great detail. I know three families on my street and the one over who have the La Costa Mercedes model (4000 sq ft), and they have all had mold and ruptured pipes in their master bedrooms. Beautiful homes, but inconsistent builder.
