Hello everyone. I have a job interview tomorrow and have only lived in here since December and haven't done any downtown/in town driving. I live in Brandon and I have done a Mapquest, Yahoo maps, and Google maps and gotten all different routes. Please advise on traffic flow - they are all about the same mileage. I REALLY would appreciate it. (P.S. some of the routes avoid the highways which I prefer, unless they go through a bad part of town)

1. Route 1: From Brandon get on the Crosstown at Falkenburg and get off at 50th Street (another route says get off at Yybor) and get up on I4, take 275N and exit Hillsborough Avenue and then drive to Armenia.

2. Route 2: From Brandon go to Causeway and then up 301 and turn left on MLK, then right on 40th Street, and then left on E. Hillsborough Avenue to N. Armenia.

3. Route 3: From Brandon get on I-75N to I4 and off at Hillsborough and all the way to Armenia.

4. Route 4: From Brandon get on 301N, take ramp to Hillsborough and all the way to Armenia.

Again, I want to avoid morning traffic (interview at 9 but job would start at 8) and the safest route. I would prefer to avoid Crosstown because of toll too. Thanks!

You could also drive 301 to MLK to Armenia or take Causeway to 50th to MLK to Armenia. Personally, I would prefer the Selmon to Willow/Cleveland to Kennedy then North on Howard (which merges with Armenia at Tampa Bay Blvd just south of MLK). Good luck and I hope you don't get lost! If you use Google Maps, you can click and drag the mouse to change the route. Very cool and fun, too!

So, with a little anxiety driving the roads of Tampa alone (usually with hubby driving), I think I prefer to go up 301 and at least right now avoid highways, so would you think the traffic would be lighter going 301 up to MLK and then over to Armenia or going 301 farther up to Hillsborough and then over to Armenia? Thanks!

I think this time of year it shouldn't be too bad either way. When school starts again you might have to find some alternate routes, which looks like you've already done! Just leave early enough to take your time just in case there are unforeseen circumstances beyond your control.
