Greetings Everyone-

I am a single 34 year old and have decided to leave the rat race that is the DC/Metro area and come down south. I am looking for some advice on a good area in which to rent in the Tampa or surrounding area. I am not sure where I'll be working as finding a location is my main focus right now. Please keep in mind that I am already used to traffic (No.Va. is second only to Los Angeles) and a VERY high cost of living . While I hope to save a bit to buy a place next year, I would rather spend a little extra on rent to be in a nicer neighborhood.

As far as lifestyle goes, I'm pretty laid back and like my quiet so I couldn't see myself living in the middle of any downtown area. However, I do prefer a younger crowd, enjoy going to the gym, playing sports, and love going to the dog park so living just outside of town would be fine.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

Default South Tampa

I think S. Tampa or Davis Island would be a good fit for you. Lots of dog parks, including one of Davis Island that has a beach. South Tampa is generally the area South of Kennedy Blvd. Davis Island has lots of rentals but it might be harder to find one the accepts dogs. You might want to stick close to Bayshore as it's a great place to exercise. The Hyde Park area has lots of gyms. Good luck.

Was going to recommend the same - I have recently heard there are a lot of reasonable rentals on Davis Island, and it's a nice area, quiet but convenient to everything you want. Good luck!
