I am retired and thinking of moving to Valencia Lakes by GL homes near Tampa. Does anyone have info on this community or any other communities in or close to Tampa. Not more than 40 minutes to the airport.

Valencia Lakes is in a fairly remote location (Wimauma) in the southeastern most portion of Hillsborough County. GL Homes has advertised this community very heavily for at least three years. Personally, I haven't visited yet, but their dot com and all the advertising looks good.

My mom lives in Valencia Lakes and she LOVES it, and has met MANY great friends in the community. Beautiful landscaped grounds, they are just completing the clubhouse, social/activity center that has a huge theater for performing arts. The only drawback she has is any decent shopping and movies is about 15 minutes north in Brandon, but within the next two years Apollo Beach will have a mall, and movie complex. She has been very happy with GL Homes, her brand new house was under a one year warranty and they were very quick to fix or update anything in her home to her liking.
