My husband and I are contemplating a move from the North Shore, MA (Beverly area) to Tampa (he is being offered a transfer). I have seen SO many suggestions on where to live from so many of you good people, it can all get a little confusing. We realize there will be a general "culture shock" and differences to anticipate as we have friends who live in Orlando and whom we visit regularly. I guess I wanted to see if there was anyone out there who had transferred from the North Shore in MA with their family and where they are and are they happy they moved? Pros? Cons? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I have in-laws that are from MA and lived near Plymouth during the summer. There other home was more inland. They all live in S. Tampa, but they have lived in FL for over 20 years. More relatives moved down a few years ago. They live in Land O Lakes area.

Guess they like it as I haven't heard of them wanting to go back.

Land O Lakes or Lutz are both nice areas. I like LOL especially some of the homes around Lake Padgett (sp) Homes are older but they have huge yards and is just a nice area. There are newer nabes with new homes. Trinity is a new community, close to the Expressway. Very small lots and traffic from what I have heard has gotten pretty heavy now.

You might take a look at Hyde Park. It is not so new Florida and therefore not quite as much shock moving from New England....it is mor village-y (well for Florida!).
