Well, Its official. I have orders to St Petersburg as a Coast Guard Recruiter. It was our number 1 pick so we are pretty excited about the move. We dont move till next June/July in 09 so I have plenty of time to research but I have been reading in past threads about how bad Florida Schools are and dont bring your children to florida etc etc. My question is where are the good elementary schools in St Petersburg. I have a 2 year old daughter who will be 3 and a 4 year old son that will be starting kindergarten when we get there. I wanted a school that they could both go to, preschool for her and kindergarten for him, Plus I will need summer care. If I can get that all in one area of the town that would be great!
I see that there are these magnet schools and charter schools and private schools and other schools that do lotteries. I dont know what my options will be or what I should get a head start on considering I will be coming from out of state and we dont know where we will be living. We have other worries, job for my husband (electrical engineer), should we buy or rent etc etc, but my main goal is to find a good school for the children and build our support network from there. I would really appreciate any suggestions!

Anyone? I just wanted to hear from any moms that have a favorite elementary school in St Petersburg that they would recommend. Thank you!

I have a 4yr old and a 5yr old (pre-k and kindergarten). We have them in Keswick Christian school and it's great. Next year we are thinking about switching to a fundamental school. The problem with fundamental schools is they typically don't have the pre-k program and we dont want to send our kids to two different schools. Pasadena, Perkins, and Bay Vista are all schools I have heard great things about.
