There is nothing in St Pete but beaches. They have about 2 malls and the pier area. Huge homeless population as well. I do not like St Pete as you can tell.

Both are great areas with some problems to solve. They differ somewhat. I like St. Pete for the "bohemian" feel to the city. Always seems like there's something to do there, downtown can be alot of fun and the proximity to the beaches is great.
I like Tampa for the business climate and it tends to be newer and cleaner than St. Pete with better shopping.
For the moment I choose Tampa since I live here and LOVE my neighborhood. However, I consider moving to St. Pete many times each month
