My best friend has decided to move to Tampa next month. I will be staying in Mn for job security. I am aware certain states and cities are going through a dry spell for people looking for work. Should I try and stop her from going? Maybe wait? I know she has her heart set on leaving asap. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Maybe, especially if she doesnt have a job lined up. She probably has her sunshine blinders on and theres plenty of sunshine and she'll probably enjoy it for a little while but she'll be back so let her adventure and you make sure you're there for her when she decides to comes back home.

This forum is filled with negative people about this state. You have to remember most people who like this state are not on here posting, also it`s a transient state for the most part so I am not surprised people come here thinking it`s Paradise then realize it`s not.
I know It`s not perfect but I am happy here but understand this place may not be what everyone is looking for. The job market is not very good but she should be able to find something if it doesn't work out she can always go back. |

That all depends on what skills your friend has and what she's willing to do to make a living.
If she has skills that are in demand, she'll do fine. If she is willing to work hard and not be choosy, she'll still do fine. The problems arise, when people have their sunshine blinders and they think they can find a "fun" job making enough money to continue the vacation lifestyle. |

Theres jobs in Tampa i dunno what people are talking about but you must have college degree. Living in Florida and getting paid good requires a college education. If you think you could get paid good like you do up north without opening your books, your at the wrong place. Other than that, 7 dollars maybe 10/hr with experience if your lucky is all you going to get n thats not enough to live good here.

What about bartending? Does anyone know if it is easy to find a bartending job and make good money at it? Maybe out by the beach?

There are lots of jobs bartending. If you got the skills and want to work, you can make a living bartending. |
