We are a young couple with 3 dogs (medium to large sized) and two kitties who are living at home (parents) right now.... and desperate to get out! I have looked and looked and the only place I can find that will accept them all is Wildwood Acres. I did a lot of research on that place and have read some horrific things about it. We are not very picky people at all, but having mold and sewage in the house sounds terrible. And I hear that the management won't fix any of the problems. I knew someone who used to live there but lost contact with them and they moved. I was inside their place and it didn't seem TOO bad, but I was only there for a few hours. With this many fur-kids we need to have a small backyard and would like to not have carpets.... and no one but wildwood fits that. Does anyone live there or have any suggestions? I know 5 animals is a lot but we are all a happy family and I cannot lose them. Thanks for any advice you may have.

I did a search and there was only minimal info on Wildwood so I needed to start a new thread to get some answers. Hopefully someone has some!!

Try tampa.craigslist.org .. housing/apts option type in pets for a search term and you'll see lots of options. Some will say pets ok/allowed in the basic description too saving you some time.
There's no www in front of the above link. If your computer insists on it just go to craigslist.org...FL...Tampa Bay
Good luck!

Thats a tough one. Did you try contacting a real estate agent about potentially renting a house as well?

Along with Tori I also think a house might be easier because landlords can be more flexible than an apartment complex that has policies enforced by a property management company. If you are willing to pay deposits for each I think you will be able to find a landlord willing. Asking a real estate agent who specializes in rentals is a great idea. I would give them a picture and descriptions of your pets which would make it more personal. Most landlords don't care as much about cats and might be willing to work with you by only counting the dogs. I have two dogs and a cat and found that most places will only accept 2 pets total but there is bound to be someone out there willing to work with you guys. Good luck on your search.

Considering the price of pet deposits you might be better off just buying a townhouse or something; if your budget and credit permit.

I am sorry to tell you, the OP, that that is a LOT of pets for any rental and you are going to have a hard time. One is lucky even to find a place that will take one dog or a couple cats, let alone 3/2. And as folks here have posted, most of it is due to insurance. When I used to own rentals I allowed a cat or two but my insurance prohibited most dogs.

Your best bet is to try to find a house in a somewhat rural setting - maybe you will find a more flexible landlord that way. Believe me, I understand your attachment to your "fur-kids" as we have always had plenty ourselves, but that is why we have always owned our homes.

Good luck, I wish I had more suggestions for you.

Default I think I have what you need

I just listed a house on craigslist today, the listing is the one that says "student friendly". It is 3 bedrooms, 1.5 bath and is very centrally located near Busch Gardens. It's a good neighborhood, and I'm a pet lover, so with a security deposit, your furry friends are OK with me. Our tenants have been there 2 years and taken good care of the place, but have retired and are moving on.

Talking :)

Yes, I have checked with Lisa on that issue. She is willing to work with me on price but it might be more than I can handle. I really appreciate her willingness to help.

If things don't work out there, I will have to go to Wildwood Acres. I hope someone who reads this can chime in about their experiences there and what to expect. The reviews were bad, but we drove around the neighborhood yesterday and it was very quiet. And many of the things people have said like "the yards are all sand" wasn't true either. Every yard has green grass throughout.

We'll see! Thanks everyone!
