Default M/I homes in Tampa?

I am looking for a new single family home in New Tampa and have looked at all the builders in New Tampa and Wesley Chapel. I liked a couple of models in Eastern Park M/I homes and went to the extent of putting in an offer. I asked for a few extra upgrades (worth < 3K) and the sales person refused to even discuss the offer with his boss before responding back. Has anybody faced the same issue with this builder/sale person? I would like to hear other's experience so that I can decide to knock of (or not) the community from my list and concentrate of other communities/builders. As a FYI, the home just opposite to the one I was interested in was sold in 2006 for greater than half million and is in foreclosure already!

M/I homes never negotiated with us either. We were interested in their longsdale plan that was selling 6 months back for appx. 280k there. They refused to consider our offer for 10k less than what they were selling it for...recently I received mail that they are selling it for 240k.

They generally don't negotiate price but if you enroll in their mailing list they will send you out email whenever they reduce the price. Though, we liked their homes overall.

Default M/I Owner

I am a Longsdale owner in Pasco county in Boyette Oaks and am in love with the house. We have been in the house about 18 months now with only a few small issues, nothing major. House is built strong and is simply huge. I would try to find a good one that is being resold if they wont deal with you. We met the same thing but it was worth just paying their fees. Good luck!!

Thanks for your responses. I found out that M/I homes has been building in the Tampa area for quite sometime and was able to find quite tons of resale homes with swimming pool, lot of upgrades and more sq ft for around $100 per sq ft in the new tampa area!
