Stolen Trailer - Crime in Trinity
We recently moved to Florida and my husband is a remodeling contractor. Last night his trailer full of his life's collection of tools was stolen out of a secured area where his trailer was also secured. Unfortunately for us we do not have insurance to cover this loss. I am grasping for any type of help we can get. If anyone has seen a gray utility trailer with Michigan plates in the Trinity area please PM me. I know this is a long shot but I thought I would post here just for the heck of it and to warn others. It is so disheartening to us that we moved our family here to escape the Michigan economy only to have so much taken from us.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Melissa

I guess the 'secured' area didn't have any video cameras? I'm really familiar with Trinity and wonder where this secured area is. Tools usually go straight to pawn shops or flea markets...I wonder if Pasco's finest know that. Is there someone you know that would have known the trailers contents?
I am very sorry this has happened to you and really hope it works out in the end.

Do you have HOI? They might cover it if it was in your yard.
Sorry that happened to you and DH.

I'm so sorry to hear about that. I'll also keep my eyes out. I live in Odessa near Trinity. Was it in your yard or somewhere else?
Best of luck!

It was in a parking lot of a warehouse area off of 54. There are no cameras in the back where the trailer was (don't know why). Supposedly we may get to see video of the front of the building, but we have to wait until someone gets back from vacation.
When my husband made the police report the officer mentioned pawn shops and said if they are sold to a pawn shop we have to buy them back.
Thanks.

a reputable pawn shop will have a record (drivers license) and video of whoever brought in the tools...you'll just need to prove they were yours

Did he rent space in the warehouse area? If so, he may have cause against the owners. It's just a thought as a way to get something to cover the loss.

Melissa, so sorry to hear about your misfortune, one thought, maybe your husband or yourself should start checking the local pawn shops in Pasco/Hernando Cty. I'm sure that your husbands tools are worth something, and the first place they will try to sell to is the pawn shops, my son who is in business has lost valuable equipment and tracked some down to the pawn shops. Also if he has other business contacts, call and tell them to be on the lookout of someone trying to sell tools and such.
Good luck.........

So I thought I would add to my original post because this is all just so unbelievable - now my husband's truck was broken into last night! One might think we are being targeted but there were actually a lot of cars broken into in our neighborhood (Water's Edge) last night and one was even stolen. It sure seems like "someone" does not want us to feel welcome here in Florida. This is crazy!
