OK, the closest Boulud outpost is in Palm Beach, not that convenient, I admit. Anyway, here is the recipe:
THE ORIGINAL db BURGER
Sirloin Filled with Braised Short Ribs & Foie Gras
Served on a Parmesan Bun
Pommes Frites or Pommes Soufflées

I never had it, don't ask.

used to live in san diego, never understood the whole in-n-out craze. thought fatburger was much better or this lil bar called rocky's off mission bay in pacific beach. this has got me fiendin for a burger...within a few miles from here i have burger king, checkers, mcdonalds, wendys, five guys and buffalo wild wings which i think may be the best burger around this area...off to chow down.

What about Biff Burger in St. Pete? I drove thru the drive-thru last august and it was great. Another time I went and it was ok, but not not great like it was the last time.

That's what makes In N Out the bomb. You can go to any IN and Out, and the burgers taste the same, taste great, every time- you never have a "hit or miss" with taste at that place.
As for Five Guys, it's a good burger. The sheer amount of food you get (their "small fries" are ridiculous) justifies the price. And 5 guys is more like a sit down restaurant. No drive thru. In N Out- has the drive thru. Sonic burgers-not bad for a fast food joint. I actually think Burger King tastes better. As for someone who mentioned Krystal Burger?? Please- that has to be the lousiest burger place I ever ate at. Had it once when I moved out here to Florida and never went back. Awful.
You can't compare sit down restaurants like Green Iguana and Ruby Tuesdays etc. to In and Out- most sit down places have some killer burgers, but not in the same genre. In N Out tastes so unlike any other burger. THose that don't understand the In N Out kraze are not true "burger conniseurs".

The InNOut business model is the best. The food....well, some will love it and some won't. I have had a hard time finding people that admit to liking their fries.

I think on the West Coast--Jack in the Box's burger quality might be on the rise.

Tampa has 45 Chipotles....THAT makes my mouth water...

Chipolte definitely rocks. Jack in the Box?? Serious? I remember JITB from back in the day; the burgers were mediocre at best...

There's a Fatburger on Gulf To Bay in Clearwater that's across the street from Chipotle. I always liked Fatburger better then In O Out for "california burgers" but it's a preference I guess.

I don't get the craze with In N Out. It's really subpar IMO.
