Feral girl found in Plant City
I just read a news story about a little girl (age 5) found in Plant City in 2005 who had been neglected so badly by her mother that she could not speak, did not connect to other people as if never taught to interact, didn't even cry for help when in pain as if never responded to when she was in need, never potty trained (still in diapers) - extremely dirty diaper when found in a room piled 4 feet high with other dirty diapers, living in filth, cockrach infestation, had bites and scratches all over her from insects, and had never been fed food, was still bottle fed, when fed. The story made me so sad, I need to know more answers but realize that's probably not availalbe. But the story told me enough to want to know more. Like how could something like this happen in a neighborhood and no one notice until she was 5? This child even had an aunt (other family) in town, how did they turn their heads at the situation. I am just wanting to know if anyone has any insight about this story, the community, and how it could have gotten to this point for the little girl before she was miraculously removed from the situation. I am a mother of two young children and the story affected me so dramatically. I am so sad for the girl and am so happy she was adopted by a family who is doing their best to rehabilitate her. If you have any comments or insights to share, please do. Thank you.
