Default Speak now or forever hold your peace...

Hello forum,

After visiting communities in various areas of central west Florida, my husband and I have decided to buy a home in Terra Vista/Citrus Hills.

We are flying down in a few weeks for the purpose of buying a home in this community.

If anyone knows of any problems with this community or this area (Citrus County) we would greatly appreciate learning about it now....before we tie the knot, so to speak.

Thank you,
tj3

We lived there for 5 years and moved away 6 months ago. IF you can find work the wages are awful. Although Crystal River is always looking for a new city manager (they don't seem to last long). You'll find yourself driving a great deal...for everything. In spite of the area's depression the people are very nice and would give you the shirt off their back.
I'm saying it's a mixed bag. If you're looking for an inexpensive place to live then you've found it. If you're looking for an active community with shopping, dining and nightlife...uhhhhhh...no.
Let me put it like this: the schools close for a week when the county fair comes so the kids can show their animals and the big area festival that everyone looks forward to? ...Cooter-fest. There's a lot you don't know about Cooter...lol.

Cooter-fest? Please explain.

Well, I guess since we're looking for the "un-city" lifestyle, we'd better learn to love the cooters - whatever they are. LOL.

Default Check to make sure the streets are lit. I'm serious.

One area in central Fl, near Citrus Co., (we moved to and left in less than 6 mos.) had hardly any street lights or lighting. Long stretches of huge roadway totally dark. Cozy and rural sound idyllic but in reality it's not always that way.

Stores there, if open on Sunday, were closed by five. Seven during the week. Just be careful before you build or buy. (I'd never do that again). Rent! If you don't like it you can get outta Dodge...with your shirt still on your back.
